back to school

Five artists and I will be traveling to an Asheville workshop, Directed Individual Study, with our art mentor and coach, Steve Aimone, of Aimone Art Services. Please check out Steve's website to learn more about his programs: http://www.aimoneartservices.com/ Steve 's book, DESIGN! A Lively Guide to Design Basics for Artists & Craftspeople (Lark), is a must-read for those intrigued by and exploring principles of design in all media. His second book, Live & Learn: Expressive Drawing (AARP) is forthcoming.

Among those artists travelling to NC will be Fran Gardner, Professor of Art and Art History at the University of South Carolina. Fran and I will be joining forces with a third artist, Cheryl Bogdanowitsch of Orlando, to conduct a 3-artist show at the Harris Gallery, Art League of Daytona Beach, 433 S. Palmetto, during March of 2010. Fran and I are looking forward to this time to collaborate and work with one another for this themed exhibit. Fran, I and Cheryl have been identified as artists of note who work within a cruciform format. Whether those compositional themes continue in a piece is another question.

Also joining us for this retreat are Melissa Mason (http://melissamason.org/), Judy Gilmer (http://judygilmer.com/), Karlene McConnell (http://www.karlenemcconnell.com/), and Charlie Cipes.
